And the childrenH1121 of ReubenH7205 and the childrenH1121 of GadH1410 and the halfH2677 tribeH7626 of ManassehH4519 returned,H7725 and departedH3212 from the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 out of Shiloh,H7887 which is in the landH776 of Canaan,H3667 to goH3212 unto the countryH776 of Gilead,H1568 to the landH776 of their possession,H272 whereof they were possessed,H270 according to the wordH6310 of the LORDH3068 by the handH3027 of Moses.H4872

And the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 heardH8085 say,H559 Behold, the childrenH1121 of ReubenH7205 and the childrenH1121 of GadH1410 and the halfH2677 tribeH7626 of ManassehH4519 have builtH1129 an altarH4196 over againstH4136 the landH776 of Canaan,H3667 in the bordersH1552 of Jordan,H3383 at the passageH5676 of the childrenH1121 of Israel.H3478

Thus saithH559 the whole congregationH5712 of the LORD,H3068 What trespassH4604 is this that ye have committedH4603 against the GodH430 of Israel,H3478 to turn awayH7725 this dayH3117 from followingH310 the LORD,H3068 in that ye have buildedH1129 you an altar,H4196 that ye might rebelH4775 this dayH3117 against the LORD?H3068

Is the iniquityH5771 of PeorH6465 too littleH4592 for us, from which we are not cleansedH2891 until this day,H3117 although there was a plagueH5063 in the congregationH5712 of the LORD,H3068
22:18
But that ye must turn awayH7725 this dayH3117 from followingH310 the LORD?H3068 and it will be, seeing ye rebelH4775 to dayH3117 against the LORD,H3068 that to morrowH4279 he will be wrothH7107 with the whole congregationH5712 of Israel.H3478

Notwithstanding,H389 if the landH776 of your possessionH272 be unclean,H2931 then pass ye overH5674 unto the landH776 of the possessionH272 of the LORD,H3068 wherein the LORD'SH3068 tabernacleH4908 dwelleth,H7931 and take possessionH270 amongH8432 us: but rebelH4775 not against the LORD,H3068 norH408 rebelH4775 against us, in buildingH1129 you an altarH4196 besideH1107 the altarH4196 of the LORDH3068 our God.H430

Did not AchanH5912 the sonH1121 of ZerahH2226 commitH4603 a trespassH4604 in the accursed thing,H2764 and wrathH7110 fellH1961 on all the congregationH5712 of Israel?H3478 and that manH376 perishedH1478 not aloneH259 in his iniquity.H5771

Then the childrenH1121 of ReubenH7205 and the childrenH1121 of GadH1410 and the halfH2677 tribeH7626 of ManassehH4519 answered,H6030 and saidH1696 unto the headsH7218 of the thousandsH505 of Israel,H3478

The LORDH3068 GodH410 of gods,H430 the LORDH3068 GodH410 of gods,H430 he knoweth,H3045 and IsraelH3478 he shall know;H3045 if it be in rebellion,H4777 or if in transgressionH4604 against the LORD,H3068 , H3467 (save us not this day,H3117)

That we have builtH1129 us an altarH4196 to turnH7725 from followingH310 the LORD,H3068 or if to offerH5927 thereon burnt offeringH5930 or meat offering,H4503 or if to offerH6213 peaceH8002 offeringsH2077 thereon, let the LORDH3068 himself requireH1245 it;
22:24
And if we have not rather doneH6213 it for fearH1674 of this thing,H1697 saying,H559 In time to comeH4279 your childrenH1121 might speakH559 unto our children,H1121 saying,H559 What have ye to do with the LORDH3068 GodH430 of Israel?H3478

For the LORDH3068 hath madeH5414 JordanH3383 a borderH1366 between us and you, ye childrenH1121 of ReubenH7205 and childrenH1121 of Gad;H1410 ye have no partH2506 in the LORD:H3068 so shall your childrenH1121 makeH7673 our childrenH1121 ceaseH7673 fromH1115 fearingH3372 the LORD.H3068

Therefore we said,H559 Let us now prepareH6213 to buildH1129 us an altar,H4196 not for burnt offering,H5930 nor for sacrifice:H2077

But that it may be a witnessH5707 between us, and you, and our generationsH1755 afterH310 us, that we might doH5647 the serviceH5656 of the LORDH3068 beforeH6440 him with our burnt offerings,H5930 and with our sacrifices,H2077 and with our peace offerings;H8002 that your childrenH1121 may not sayH559 to our childrenH1121 in time to come,H4279 Ye have no partH2506 in the LORD.H3068

Therefore saidH559 we, that it shall be, when they should so sayH559 to us or to our generationsH1755 in time to come,H4279 that we may sayH559 again, BeholdH7200 the patternH8403 of the altarH4196 of the LORD,H3068 which our fathersH1 made,H6213 not for burnt offerings,H5930 nor for sacrifices;H2077 but it is a witnessH5707 between us and you.

God forbidH2486 that we should rebelH4775 against the LORD,H3068 and turnH7725 this dayH3117 from followingH310 the LORD,H3068 to buildH1129 an altarH4196 for burnt offerings,H5930 for meat offerings,H4503 or for sacrifices,H2077 beside the altarH4196 of the LORDH3068 our GodH430 that is beforeH6440 his tabernacle.H4908

And when PhinehasH6372 the priest,H3548 and the princesH5387 of the congregationH5712 and headsH7218 of the thousandsH505 of IsraelH3478 which were with him, heardH8085 the wordsH1697 that the childrenH1121 of ReubenH7205 and the childrenH1121 of GadH1410 and the childrenH1121 of ManassehH4519 spake,H1696 it pleasedH3190, H5869 them.

And PhinehasH6372 the sonH1121 of EleazarH499 the priestH3548 saidH559 unto the childrenH1121 of Reuben,H7205 and to the childrenH1121 of Gad,H1410 and to the childrenH1121 of Manasseh,H4519 This dayH3117 we perceiveH3045 that the LORDH3068 is amongH8432 us, because ye have not committedH4603 this trespassH4604 against the LORD:H3068 nowH227 ye have deliveredH5337 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 out of the handH3027 of the LORD.H3068
