And when they of AshdodH796 arose earlyH7925 on the morrow,H4283 behold, DagonH1712 was fallenH5307 upon his faceH6440 to the earthH776 beforeH6440 the arkH727 of the LORD.H3068 And they tookH3947 Dagon,H1712 and setH7725 him in his placeH4725 again.H7725

And when they arose earlyH7925 on the morrowH4283 morning,H1242 behold, DagonH1712 was fallenH5307 upon his faceH6440 to the groundH776 beforeH6440 the arkH727 of the LORD;H3068 and the headH7218 of DagonH1712 and bothH8147 the palmsH3709 of his handsH3027 were cut offH3772 upon the threshold;H4670 only the stump of DagonH1712 was leftH7604 to him.

Therefore neither the priestsH3548 of Dagon,H1712 nor any that comeH935 into Dagon'sH1712 house,H1004 treadH1869 on the thresholdH4670 of DagonH1712 in AshdodH795 unto this day.H3117

But the handH3027 of the LORDH3068 was heavyH3513 upon them of Ashdod,H796 and he destroyedH8074 them, and smoteH5221 them with emerodsH2914, H6076, even AshdodH795 and the coastsH1366 thereof.

And when the menH582 of AshdodH795 sawH7200 that it was so, they said,H559 The arkH727 of the GodH430 of IsraelH3478 shall not abideH3427 with us: for his handH3027 is soreH7185 upon us, and upon DagonH1712 our god.H430

They sentH7971 therefore and gatheredH622 all the lordsH5633 of the PhilistinesH6430 unto them, and said,H559 What shall we doH6213 with the arkH727 of the GodH430 of Israel?H3478 And they answered,H559 Let the arkH727 of the GodH430 of IsraelH3478 be carried aboutH5437 unto Gath.H1661 And they carriedH5437 the arkH727 of the GodH430 of IsraelH3478 aboutH5437 thither.

Therefore they sentH7971 the arkH727 of GodH430 to Ekron.H6138 And it came to pass, as the arkH727 of GodH430 cameH935 to Ekron,H6138 that the EkronitesH6139 cried out,H2199 saying,H559 They have brought aboutH5437 the arkH727 of the GodH430 of IsraelH3478 to us, to slayH4191 us and our people.H5971

So they sentH7971 and gathered togetherH622 all the lordsH5633 of the Philistines,H6430 and said,H559 Send awayH7971 the arkH727 of the GodH430 of Israel,H3478 and let it go againH7725 to his own place,H4725 that it slayH4191 us not, and our people:H5971 for there was a deadlyH4194 destructionH4103 throughout all the city;H5892 the handH3027 of GodH430 was veryH3966 heavyH3513 there.
