And AhabH256 toldH5046 JezebelH348 all that ElijahH452 had done,H6213 and withal how he had slainH2026 all the prophetsH5030 with the sword.H2719
Then JezebelH348 sentH7971 a messengerH4397 unto Elijah,H452 saying,H559 So let the godsH430 doH6213 to me, and moreH3254 also, if I makeH7760 not thy lifeH5315 as the lifeH5315 of oneH259 of them by to morrowH4279 about this time.H6256
And when he sawH7200 that, he arose,H6965 and wentH3212 for his life,H5315 and cameH935 to Beersheba,H884 which belongeth to Judah,H3063 and leftH3240 his servantH5288 there.
But he himself wentH1980 a day'sH3117 journeyH1870 into the wilderness,H4057 and cameH935 and sat downH3427 under aH259 juniper tree:H7574 and he requestedH7592 for himselfH5315 that he might die;H4191 and said,H559 It is enough;H7227 now, O LORD,H3068 take awayH3947 my life;H5315 for I am not betterH2896 than my fathers.H1
And as he layH7901 and sleptH3462 under aH259 juniper tree,H7574 behold, then an angelH4397 touchedH5060 him, and saidH559 unto him, AriseH6965 and eat.H398
And he looked,H5027 and, behold, there was a cakeH5692 baken on the coals,H7529 and a cruseH6835 of waterH4325 at his head.H4763 And he did eatH398 and drink,H8354 and laid him downH7901 again.H7725
And the angelH4397 of the LORDH3068 came againH7725 the second time,H8145 and touchedH5060 him, and said,H559 AriseH6965 and eat;H398 because the journeyH1870 is too greatH7227 for thee.
And he arose,H6965 and did eatH398 and drink,H8354 and wentH3212 in the strengthH3581 of that meatH396 fortyH705 daysH3117 and fortyH705 nightsH3915 unto HorebH2722 the mountH2022 of God.H430
And he cameH935 thither unto a cave,H4631 and lodgedH3885 there; and, behold, the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 came to him, and he saidH559 unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?H452
And he said,H559 I have been veryH7065 jealousH7065 for the LORDH3068 GodH430 of hosts:H6635 for the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 have forsakenH5800 thy covenant,H1285 thrown downH2040 thine altars,H4196 and slainH2026 thy prophetsH5030 with the sword;H2719 and I, even I only, am left;H3498 and they seekH1245 my life,H5315 to take it away.H3947
And he said,H559 Go forth,H3318 and standH5975 upon the mountH2022 beforeH6440 the LORD.H3068 And, behold, the LORDH3068 passed by,H5674 and a greatH1419 and strongH2389 windH7307 rentH6561 the mountains,H2022 and brake in piecesH7665 the rocksH5553 beforeH6440 the LORD;H3068 but the LORDH3068 was not in the wind:H7307 and afterH310 the windH7307 an earthquake;H7494 but the LORDH3068 was not in the earthquake:H7494
And afterH310 the earthquakeH7494 a fire;H784 but the LORDH3068 was not in the fire:H784 and afterH310 the fireH784 a stillH1827 smallH1851 voice.H6963
And it was so, when ElijahH452 heardH8085 it, that he wrappedH3874 his faceH6440 in his mantle,H155 and went out,H3318 and stoodH5975 in the entering inH6607 of the cave.H4631 And, behold, there came a voiceH6963 unto him, and said,H559 What doest thou here, Elijah?H452
And he said,H559 I have been veryH7065 jealousH7065 for the LORDH3068 GodH430 of hosts:H6635 because the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 have forsakenH5800 thy covenant,H1285 thrown downH2040 thine altars,H4196 and slainH2026 thy prophetsH5030 with the sword;H2719 and I, even I only, am left;H3498 and they seekH1245 my life,H5315 to take it away.H3947
And the LORDH3068 saidH559 unto him, Go,H3212 returnH7725 on thy wayH1870 to the wildernessH4057 of Damascus:H1834 and when thou comest,H935 anointH4886 HazaelH2371 to be kingH4428 over Syria:H758
And JehuH3058 the sonH1121 of NimshiH5250 shalt thou anointH4886 to be kingH4428 over Israel:H3478 and ElishaH477 the sonH1121 of ShaphatH8202 of AbelmeholahH65 shalt thou anointH4886 to be prophetH5030 in thy room.
And it shall come to pass, that him that escapethH4422 the swordH2719 of HazaelH2371 shall JehuH3058 slay:H4191 and him that escapethH4422 from the swordH2719 of JehuH3058 shall ElishaH477 slay.H4191
Yet I have leftH7604 me sevenH7651 thousandH505 in Israel,H3478 all the kneesH1290 which have not bowedH3766 unto Baal,H1168 and every mouthH6310 which hath not kissedH5401 him.
So he departedH3212 thence, and foundH4672 ElishaH477 the sonH1121 of Shaphat,H8202 who was plowingH2790 with twelveH6240, H8147 yokeH6776 of oxen beforeH6440 him, and he with the twelfthH6240, H8147: and ElijahH452 passedH5674 by him, and castH7993 his mantleH155 upon him.
And he leftH5800 the oxen,H1241 and ranH7323 afterH310 Elijah,H452 and said,H559 Let me, I pray thee, kissH5401 my fatherH1 and my mother,H517 and then I will followH3212, H310 thee. And he saidH559 unto him, Go backH3212 again:H7725 for what have I doneH6213 to thee?
And he returned backH7725 from him,H310 and tookH3947 a yokeH6776 of oxen,H1241 and slewH2076 them, and boiledH1310 their fleshH1320 with the instrumentsH3627 of the oxen,H1241 and gaveH5414 unto the people,H5971 and they did eat.H398 Then he arose,H6965 and wentH3212 afterH310 Elijah,H452 and ministeredH8334 unto him.
